…As Compt Nnadi decorates 110 officers in grand style
The TinCan Island Port Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has recorded another mile stone as a formation with the highest number of promoted officers in the latest promotion list.
The Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the Command,
Compt Dera Nnadi mni, revealed this
yesterday during the decoration of newly promoted officers at TinCan Island Port.
Speaking during the occasion, Compt Nnadi, who expressed great enthusiasm about the promotion, commended CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR for his magnanimity in promoting even officers who were on the waiting list for long.
Compt Nnadi described the promotion of 67 Comptrollers at once by the CGC as unprecedented in the history of Nigeria Customs Service.
Speaking further, he urged the newly promoted officers to wear their thinking caps in bringing new ideas to bear in Customs operations.
The decoration exercise at TinCan Command, witnessed a large turnout of officers and maritime stakeholders, who described Compt Nnadi as versatile in Customs .
He said ; “Put on your thinking caps, come up with new ideas to justify the confidence reposed in you by the Service management.
“This year is going to be labelled the year of stakeholders. It is going to be hanged on the shoulders of the newly promoted officers”.
The officers
decorated at TinCan Command included 9 Deputy Comptrollers, promoted to the rank of Comptrollers, 16 Assistant Comptrollers promoted to Deputy Comptrollers and 21 Chief Superintendent of Customs promoted to Assistant Comptrollers, among others.
Compt. Nnadi in his words; “You are not only fortunate, you are also privileged.
Those who were not promoted this time should work harder.
“Your rank confers service in you and not power. Whichever office you will be assigned to work must be seen as service and not as power.
“You have to respect our stakeholders and optimise service delivery at all times.
Now, you have to use your new rank in helping the Command to meet its revenue target to be assigned in few days to come.
“My obligation is to mentor you and what you owe Customs back is service delivery and hard work to achieve the desired result,” the CAC advised.
In his goodwill message, Mr Ojo Peter Akintoye, a member, Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents, ANLCA, congratulated the officers, praying for them to succeed in their statutory duties.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries,
Chief Superintendent of Customs, CSC Okadigbo thanked the Service Management for finding them worthy for the promotion, commending the CGC and his team for their transparency in the entire exercise.
He assured the Management of their readiness to give their best in service delivery.
