MAJAN: Maritime Journalists to set agenda for new transport minister

* Calls for round-table talkshow with stakeholders on expectations from new minister

The Maritime Journalists Association of Nigeria (MAJAN), has concluded plans to set agenda for the new Minister of Transportation.

As such, MAJAN is inviting reputable stakeholders in the maritime industry for a round-table discussion on this very important issue.

The President of MAJAN, Comrade Ray Ugochukwu, disclosed these details in a press statement issued on MAJAN platform, today.

The programme scheduled to take place at MAJAN Secretariat in Lagos, will focus on; *Stakeholders Expectations from the New Minister in moving the industry forward*.

Ugochukwu said :
“As Journalists, apart from reporting events as they unfold, our role in national development includes *Agenda-setting for government*.
All MAJAN members must be alert to their statutory functions, as enshrined in our Constitution.

“We must live up to expectations, not only in disseminating information but setting agenda for the government”.

The MAJAN President said emphatically that the duty of Journalists has Constitutional backing, therefore all MAJAN members must carry out their responsibilities effectively.

He stressed :
“As Journalists, we must make positive impacts and add value to the industry we cover daily”

*He informed* :
“We are calling on all agencies; Customs Brokers; Freight Forwarders; Nigeria Customs Service; Importers; Clearing Agents and all
relevant stakeholders in the maritime industry to be part of this important discussion. Let us work in synergy to move the industry forward” .
